How do I connect to my Roofnet Broadband wireless service?
In most cases, connecting to Roofnet Wireless Broadband Internet Service is as simple as turning-on your computer. For more complex configurations,
www.roofnettt.com will provide you with detailed instructions on how to connect.
My computer is on, but I cannot use the Internet. What should I do?
It is recommended that you restart your computer before attempting any other solutions. Sometimes computer software can cause problems if the computer has been on too long or for any other number of reasons. Also power cycling your router and antenna Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) adapter is another option. After 5 minutes, if this does not solve the problem, please contact technical support.
Does it matter how long I am online?
No, you can be online as long as you would like. You have unlimited access! We do, however ask that you be courteous to other users and not leave applications like Morpheus, iMesh, LimeWire, or similar programs open. Not only do they take bandwidth away from other users, they also act as servers, which is a violation of the terms of service.
Will R and R Roofnet Limited ever disconnect me on purpose?
Aside from scheduled outages or situations that may arise, Roofnet Limited will never disconnect you from its services unless a violation of the terms of service is found which includes non-payment of services.
How do I disconnect when I am finished using the Internet?
Disconnecting from Roofnets Broadband Internet Service is as simple as turning off your computer. There is not, however, a need to disconnect from the service when you are not actively using it.
My connection is slower than what was advertised. Why is this?
The speeds advertised are the maximum speed possible for your account type. As with any other Internet service, speeds may vary depending on the time of day, depending on usage.
Roofnet Limited will do everything within our power to provide you with a reliable connection, but often times problems are a result of the client's computer or software. However, Roofnet Limited strives to ensure your satisfaction. If you experience consistent problems, please do not hesitate to contact our technical support.
I can't retrieve my e-mail from Outlook Express, I get an error message. Why?
If your Internet connection seems to be operating properly, your most common reason for not being able to receive e-mail through Outlook Express is caused by your anti-virus application. Some anti-virus applications scan incoming e-mails for virus infections. Once in a while the anti-virus will hang on receiving e-mail. Temporarily disable your anti-virus from scanning incoming e-mail and try again. This commonly solves the problem, if not contact technical support.
My question isn't addressed here. What should I do?
If you are unable to find your question listed, please feel free to contact Roofnet Limited! If you are having technical issues, contact technical support.
What is Wireless Broadband Internet Service?
Wireless broadband is a fairly new technology where your connection to the Internet is made by a radio link to one of our antennas. This allows us to do some pretty amazing things. First, we aren't limited by cables like DSL or Cable Broadband; our connection to you passes through the air. Since we aren't trying to make older technology (like television cable) work for data, we can achieve incredible speeds both from the network to you, and from you out. Broadband is an always-on connection capable of providing simultaneous mixed media over the same line with speeds that are substantially greater than a typical dial-up connection.

What is the installation process?
Generally, our installers will mount a small panel antenna on your roof, or
an exterior wall and run the Ethernet cable inside to your main computer location. This cable connects to a broadband router, which is then plugged into your computer or network with a Ethernet network cable. Your computer will need to have an Ethernet port to connect to the broadband router. Most late model computers include Ethernet ports. An average install takes from one to two hours.
How does all this work with one computer?
The installation begin with an antenna with a radio transceiver and a broadband router. The antenna is approximately 18.9 inches by 8.1 by 6.1 inches in size and will reside on an exterior wall, or atop your roof, pointed at our base station. An Ethernet cable runs from this device down into your house where it connects to the broadband router. The broadband router connects to your computer via an Ethernet cable. Your computer will need to have an Ethernet port to connect to the broadband router. Most late model computers include Ethernet ports. In a few simple install steps on your computer, you're surfing the web.
Can I hook up my home or business network to your service?

Are the radio signals harmful to humans?
RF is a form of electromagnetic signal that can pass through the air, walls, and for short distances even you! However, the signal power for our equipment is significantly lower than a normal cellular phone!
Roofnet Limited strives to ensure the safety of its customers.
What about privacy? Is someone watching what I do online?
Roofnet Limited does not monitor or keep logs of what individuals using the service are doing beyond total bandwidth used and time online. These are used to help maintain the network only, and plan for expansion of our connections to the Internet. This also means that you are responsible for your own parental controls on your computer. We do not filter any access to the net and we are not responsible for any content you find on it that doesn't reside on our servers. Third-party software is available if you want filtered content on your computer.
Can I surf from my back porch or within your coverage area with a laptop?
In most cases, users are too far away from the broadcast tower to be able to receive a signal with a laptop wireless card. However, we can provide you with an inexpensive wireless access point and laptop wireless card you can use to connect to your
Roofnet wireless broadband equipment.
